Kawasaki prairie 650 top speed.

I have 2002 prairie 650 with 3200 miles on it. Over the last 6 months i have found i don't have as much power as i use to have. I have been riding it today and the top speed i can get is only 46 mph. A year ago i could get 57 to 58 mph. any ideas on what is going on. It just feels sluggish.Now the belt light flashes and it is in limp mode. I found the vin and it indicates that it is a 2003. There are no grey or black connectors to switch. Just the belt light switch, which was broken. It is now bypassed. I've read every post about this but if it was a 2002 it shouldn't have went in limp mode.
